La Biennale internationale d'art miniature a procédé au décrochage des oeuvres le 7 septembre. Les collectionneurs et les artistes présents ont pu prendre possession des oeuvres.
En raison des modalités de paiement et de désencadrement, le retour des oeuvres se fera graduellement. Toute l'équipe espère être en mesure d'achever le processus d'ici la fin octobre. La Biennale internationale tient à remercier tous les artistes de leur participation et surtout à leur témoigner notre plus profonde reconnaissance pour le succès auxquels ils ont associé. Les conditions de participation pour la 10e Biennale internationale d'art miniature de Ville-Marie seront dévoilés et rendus disponibles sur le site en septembre 2009.

15 to May 20, 2008 COLLECTIVE ARTWORK
From Friday, May 16th to Tuesday, May 20th, the artist Armand Vaillancourt will oversee the production of a large-scale painting (2 metres x 20 metres) in collaboration with all artists and the general public. The work will be on view to the general public during all of the exhibition and will become part of the Biennial’s permanent collection.

9 a.m. : OPENING UNOFFICIAL OF THE 9TH EDITION. To permit to appreciate the 9th edition of the IMAB, the Salle Augustin-Chénier will open the door of the exhibition from 9 to 5 on the Friday.
9 a.m. : ACCREDITATION OF THE ARTISTS. 9 a.m. : COLLECTIVE ARTWORK WITH ARMAND VAILLANCOURT on the site of Salle Augustin-Chénier. 5 p.m. : 5 TO 7 AT CAFÉ L'ENTRACTE. 8 p.m. : CABARET EVENING. Témiscamingue artists, under the artistic direction of Francine Marcotte, will present a Cabaret Evening. All artists participating in the Biennial are invited to bring their musical instruments for a Jam Session. Free admission.
14 to March 16, 2008 IMAGE AND JURY OF THE 9TH EDITION
The insect as symbol and the passage of the jury under the theme Essence
Ville-Marie, March 14, 2008 – The Organizing Committee of the International Miniature Art Biennial (IMAB) is proud to present the symbol and the jury of the 9th International Miniature Art Biennial. The limitation of wood material and/or paper refers to the Témiscamingue forests from which the idea of an insect was developed by Ms. Karine Berthiaume who both illustrates the miniature and challenges the belief that our imperishable forest is infested by stinging mosquitoes. The image glorifies the insect, an essential element in the food chain and the ecological balance of the planet. We are all now aware that our forest is not unlimited and that the insect has its place now more than ever. The absence of a rostrum (stinging organ) attests that mosquitoes do not constitute a problem for residents and visitors when enjoying the vast Témiscamingue landscapes. It’s both a sober and audacious poster, a reflection of the Témiscamingue people. We have received 518 works: including 17 low reliefs, 2 high reliefs, 40 sculptures (regrouped into the same category), 46 drawings, 129 prints and 162 paintings by 283 artists from 30 countries. One of the important moments in preparing for the 9th Biennial is the passage of the jury, March 14th , 15th and 16th at the Salle Augustin-Chénier for the judging and selection of the prize-winning works in order to award the four Prizes and four Commendations in each of the categories: 1) low relief, high relief and sculpture; 2) drawing, 3) print and 4) painting, as well as the Grand Prize and the Regional Prize. The unveiling of the results will take place May 17th during the evening opening of the 9th edition. The jury of the 9th IMAB is, as in previous editions, notable and experienced. The 2008 trio is headed by sculptor Armand Vaillancourt, well known for his work and his political and social positions. Active in the Québecois art scene for more than sixty years, Mr. Vaillancourt received the prestigious Prix Paul-Émile-Borduas in 1993 for his career achievements, highlighting an incontestable international reputation. He will occupy the position of President of the jury. Also composing the jury is Martine Savard, an artist-painter well known in Quebec and resident of Rouyn-Noranda, whose recent work was presented at the Salle Augustin-Chénier in the spring of 2007. The jury is completed by the presence of Montreal photographer Jean-Daniel Gagnon, witness to the importance that photography now takes in the category of the print arts in the Biennial. He brings with him an sensitivity to this photographic tendency which is ever increasing in the Biennials. It is important to note that in accordance with the agreement with the Musée de la miniature de Montélimar (France), the selected artwork (award-winning and finalists) will be exhibited there in the autumn of 2008 and at the Musée d’art contemporain du Château de Rivoli in Italy in the winter of 2009. The countdown has thus begun. The unwrapping of the artwork is finished and the committee is putting the final touches on the program of activities surrounding this unique cultural event in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Parallel to this work, the promotional tools are in the process of production. The financial organization is in place and the sponsors of the 9th edition will be made known during the program launching, to take place mid-May. 13 to March 14, 2008 INVITATION
